I grew up in Small Town, Missouri, USA, and our county fair included a game called Betsy Bingo. I could not find anything on this (and thought maybe I’d misremembered), but then discovered this story from Montana.

Turn Cow Poop into $10,000? Bingo!

Essentially a field is gridded off, each square/cell is sold or auctioned, and wherever Betsy poops, that person wins the jackpot. 🙂

The game I have in mind includes a bidding phase (maybe bidding, card drafting, etc. to get squares & potential actions for the 2nd phase) and a Betsy Poops phase (Programming + some element of “nudging” the cow to each players’ desired space).

Just a starting point idea, but I see it as a light/fun/family weight game based on the theme. Although I get a little giddy thinking about a midweight Euro with Beth Sobel-style realistic art of cows and their poo.

If anyone else has energy around this silly idea, please let me know and/or take it and make the game! Happy to collaborate, but I also want to be clear that I’d love someone to run with this – with or without me – so I can play it one day. 🙂

We called it “Bossy Bingo” in my small town in southern Ontario. LOL. I also remember getting a jellybean dispenser on the shape of a moose that pooped out jellybeans when you pressed on its head. This could be a hilarious component to your game. It might also add a random element to the game as well. Players can place the dispenser over their square, but there’s no telling where the jellybeans will actually end up. Good luck with the game, it sounds like fun.

Thanks, Roger! Yes, I was definitely thinking about the toy factor of a pooping cow.

I think this could be a really fun theme for a series of games – County Fair: Bossy Bingo; and then everything from fried Twinkies to carnival games to not-quite-up-to-code thrill rides. 🙂

    Brian, this is hilarious!

A couple of thoughts thoughts come to mind:

    – Feeding the cow different types of food to poo more or less, maybe time it lol

    – What if the cow(s) were represented by d6’s and some how the direction of the cow(s) are known/chosen and as it moves in that direction, the die decreases and when it gets to 0 that’s when and where it poops 😂

I like the known timer (like using a D6 or similar) vs. randomness of when the cow poops.

And that feeding of different foods, etc. (laxatives? 😀 ) to speed or slow the digestive system is also interesting.

Very fun. What a weird little industry we’re in!
