Oh man, I put more than 100 hours into Slay the Spire – there is something so addicting to that game.
And I do think that special sauce would be near-impossible to transfer to physical boardgames. It is not just the cards and their synergies, but also that any hard calculations or upkeep are done for you and the speed of the game.
It is interesting though to think about. They are actually trying to make a Slay the Spire boardgame (https://contentiongames.com/games/slay/). But I think this won’t work well (if they go for a basic translation of the gameplay): just too much fiddlyness and bookkeeping to keep it fun..
