I am happy to admit that marketing (at least outside of Kickstarter) is my weakest area, and I think it’s one of the most important.

I’ve tried Facebook ads. During Kickstarter I used Backerkit ads, and they were very successful. I have tried my own, and they were not. Likewise, I’ve tried them outside a Kickstarter campaign and could never get them to work.

I don’t have a huge budget but I could happily throw a few hundred dollars at marketing each month if I could reliably outsource it.

Social Media…

I have a facebook page and group- the group is quite active.

I have all the social media accounts, but decided some time ago to stop wasting my time trying to be present on all of them, and concentrate on the ones which actually gave results – for me that’s 100% facebook. Instagram: lots of engagement, no sales. Twitter: poor engagement.

Mailing List…

I have just over 1000 people signed up to the mailing list. This is a resource I don’t tap too much, and save it for when I actually have an important message/product release.

So, apart from the obvious, do you have anything that works well for you? Do you have the same struggles I do in trying to invest in advertising to drive sales? Why do you think that is? If you’ve got it to work, do you have any insights as to why?
