Theme – Fur Trapping in the Early 19th Century
-
I’m creating a game where a group of trappers head west with a company. They obtain property (so far on a 9 x 9 grid) via donation land claims from the government. But, the west can be real cutthroat. While the trappers attempt to further the business of their trapping company, greediness ensues and slowly, but surely each player breaks off from the company attempting to create their own lucrative business.
To complicate matters worse, their is another fur trapping company, the Central Fur Co. that lives in infamy (think the Hudson Bay company). Ruthless, they endeavor to annihilate the competition by gobbling up all the trapping territory.
The game, Trappers and Traitors, is an engine building game of attrition, area dominance, and cunning. Co-own territories with other players and steal the property when they least expect it. Build your trap lines to move effortlessly throughout the map, obtaining pelts and converting them to furs. Build the best fur trading company you can before the Central Fur Co. takes it all.
Okay, that’s my pitch. It’s in development. I have a prototype. I have finished trap tokens. Now I’m hammering out the rules and then I’ll turn to the long road of play testing. Does this sound at all interesting to anyone?
