How to share my game design progress here on BGDL+?
-
I’m in the process of designing a board game. It’s my first time creating a regular (entertainment) board game, as a hobby. I think it would benefit me to share my progress and reflection in this community as I go on.
But, I’m not totally clear what would be the best way to go about it.
I think keeping some kind of journal here where people might read and even comment would be a good way to start. I’m not looking for playtesters online or anything like that at this point.
So my question is, where here on BGDL+ would I post such a journal?
I see that there is the Work In Progress forum, but the content I see posted there is a bit different: descriptions on WIP games or concepts, requests for playtesters etc.
And there is a blog functionality here on BGDL+ as well. I’m not so sure whether that is something that would suit this type of journal. I could, in any case, start journaling on my (now dormant) game design blog and copy-paste to a blog here.
What kind of advice would you give me?

I am in a similar boat. I figure I will create blog posts here in BGDL+ and see how it goes. I haven’t come across anything that looks like a better fit on the platform unless there is a dedicated design journal feature I am missing.

Same here, just published my first blog. Good luck on your design endeavors, Robert!

The site has two places to track this kind of thing, as you mentioned.
The Work in Progress forum where you can post updates, pictures, questions, etc., and other members can respond.
And/or you can create blog posts and put the “design diary” category tag on them.
A WiP forum makes it easy to keep everything in one place, so I would use that if everything is related to the same game. I would go the blog post route if the content isn’t centered around the same project.
I hope that helps!
