Rummy has always been a favorite card game of mine and my family, and I’ve been thinking of ways to tie in other mechanics into it. I think it would be cool to do a challenge every week/month/2 weeks where Rummy mechanics are used with other mechanics:

    • Worker Placement
    • Area Control
    • Tile Laying
    • Trick taking
    • Roll and write
    • Programmable actions
    • Deck building
    • Engine building
    • Legacy
    • I cut, you choose
    • Auction
    • etc.

I have no idea if any of these have been done but would anyone be interested in doing 1 or 2 of these challenges? And it wouldn’t have to be with a standard(ish) deck of cards either

Lastly, here are some random ideas I have:

    • Battle Rummy
    • Melds and Sequences can be used to create different attacks or defenses
  • One of the things I like in Rummy is being able to play off of other players melds and sequences, I think it would be neat to use this in a game. If it’s been done before, could you please share.
    • When playing off of a player’s meld or sequence, you and that player would get a bonus/benefit of some sort.
    • A player may block their meld or sequence from other players to add on to.

What are your thoughts? Thanks! 🙂

I’ve had a niggling feeling for ages about trying to use rummy mechanics in another, interesting way. Nothing has really sprung to mind yet though
